Superior Breeding

We search the globe for only the best cats to be part of Haughty Bengal. They come from long lines of healthy, spectacular looking Bengals with incredible coats and nice sized/shaped rosettes that are multi-colored. We retain many of our own top kittens, and we’ll always seek the best from around the world to help develop and maintain our lines. When you only work with the best, the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.

Other breeders will tell you how their cats have all been tested for this and for that, but how well did they look into the lines they selected? All our team members come from long lines of healthy cats with virtually no health issues. Haughty Bengal kittens are born of hardy stock, and look forward to long lives full of fun and adventure.

Kittens are born with certain attributes that make them who they are. Some will sit back and watch as others take the lead. Bengals tend to be bold and unafraid of the same things that give pause to other cat breeds. We raise our kittens with regular human contact in a safe environment, always allowing them to explore their world. Confident kittens make for happy cats.

Rosettes Are Our Thing!

Did you know that multi-colored rosettes are the one and only thing that separate Bengals from every other cat breed in the world today? It’s true, and we honor this fact with every decision we make when pairing our world-class Bengals.

Have you noticed how most breeders are producing single-colored speckled/spotted cats these days, and the markings just keep getting smaller and smaller? How can they call them Bengals?

Our goal is to produce Bengal kittens with multi-colored rosettes of a nice size, that have a rounded shape, and good flow with excellent spacing. We demand these things and more of our team members and that will never change. We won’t settle for less, and neither should you!

There’s no denying the beauty of a well-marked silver Bengal with a nice, clean coat. Thing is, the silver color is not as developed as others, and there aren’t many great looking silver Bengals in the world. Not compared to other colors like brown.

Our work with silver Bengals, initially, is to improve the rosette and coat qualities passed along to offspring, and to produce some of the finest classic silver Bengals in the world. Having top quality cats to work with is only part of the puzzle. Making correct decisions when pairing our cats is another. Wish us luck, the final piece, we’re going to need it.

To keep things interesting we’ll also be working with a couple of top quality clouded silver Bengals, with jumbo sized markings that are very exciting. Whether you’re interested in brown Bengals, silver Bengals, or both, we’ve got you covered!

Snow Bengals

Snow Bengals

Snow Bengals boast stunning coats that range from ivory to cream, displaying a captivating blend of colors influenced by their genetic makeup. These cats come in three distinct genetic variations—Seal Lynx, Seal Mink, and Seal Sepia—each with unique shading and contrast.

Seal Lynx Bengals, the lightest of the three, often have crisp markings that darken with age and striking blue eyes.

Seal Mink Bengals display a balance between Lynx and Sepia, featuring soft yet defined patterns and mesmerizing aqua or green eyes.

Seal Sepia Bengals, the darkest of the trio, have rich, warm tones with well-defined patterns and deep green or gold eyes. Their alluring coats, combined with their exotic wild appearance, make Snow Bengals a truly extraordinary breed.

Temperament

The temperament of any cat is dependent on multiple things. Most of these things they are born with. The kitten may be shy or timid. They may be curious and can’t wait to see what happens next. Many are born lovers and are constantly seeking affection. Others are so bold and they seem to have no fear. These natural born qualities will then be shaped by their surroundings.

At Haughty Bengal, this begins in the cattery where the kittens are born, in the safety and comfort of mama’s very own room. Our Mamas enjoy their own rooms which relieves much of the stress they might otherwise have. Kittens are able to get out and explore easily while mama is by their side in a peaceful safe environment.

Kittens are socialized and given as much love as possible from the time they are born, until the time they leave for their new homes. By the time they leave us they have become quite accustomed to the environment here, and to us. They are confident and secure kittens, ready to take the next steps in their new homes.

Genetic Testing in Breeding

All Team Haughty Members are DNA tested using Wisdom Panel Optimal Selection for Progressive Retinal Atrophy and Pyruvate Kinase Deficiency. Each cat must test negative for both in order to be part of our team. When both parents are non-carriers it is impossible for offspring to develop the conditions. If every breeder could test we can wipe out these diseases. We test all of our cats, no exceptions, it’s the responsible thing to do.

Genetic testing is constantly evolving. Scientists are identifying new markers for different things everyday. We look forward to the future and hope genetic screening will improve and have an even greater impact on the lives of our feline friends.
